Fear
The fantastically organized ZAZ festival took place in Tel Aviv and in Haifa.
The first place was the Performance Art Platform, a nice space in the "new" bus station in south Tel Aviv.
I had asked for Nablus soap after I heard that the only factories allowed on the West Bank are two old soap factories. It was difficult to get in Tel Aviv but then one of the women involved in PAP found out that next to her home there was this little shop...
I showed the soap to the audience and let them smell.
It took a long time because I offered everybody the chance to smell and most wanted to.
Then I went to the wall and started to write with the soap on the wall: FEAR.
I took out three red woolen threads from my mouth and used the threads to write again fear, this time in Hebrew, on the floor.
People came forward to look what came out of my mouth. Later I heard the rumor went that I tore out some teeth with the threads..
A lot of people started to talk to each other, discussing the European that thought to comment on their business.
In the meantime I cleansed the wall with water and brush, trying to wash away the fear.
After drying with a hairdryer the letters were (are..) still visible.

ZAZ Festival
Zaz Festival is an annual event of "'Performance Art Platform", which hosts performance artists from around the world. The artists perform in different locations, with different geographical and environmental characteristics, and in front of varied audiences and communities. The Zaz Festival for performance art is a unique initiative in Israel.
This dynamic and experimental laboratory of live art moves between different physical
and human spaces in Israel, and between various forms of action, including frontal performances in a variety of heterogeneous spaces; simultaneous performances in multiple sites; actions on the streets and in public buildings that have a charged sociopolitical meaning; and workshops for students and for the general public. Israeli artists and artists from abroad will participate in the Festival.
