Mother's Tongue Book Launch
Myymälä, Helsinki
November 2018
Not exactly an art action but worth mentioning here as it took most of my energy in 2018.
A wonderful book about the Mother's Tongue project of 2014. The project involved a five day festival with 30 artists who had one thing in common: they all live in a country where they cannot speak their mother tongue. From a Japanese artist living in Finland to a Gabonese artist from Germany to a Chilean artist from the USA, etc. etc.
Part of the project was an anthropologic research with the participating artists on the effect of living in a foreign country / culture on their artistic practice.
Texts by Otso Kantakorpi, Ray Langenbach, Anu Lounela, Pekka Tuominen and Willem Wilhelmus.
Photos by Ossi Kajas, Antti Peltokangas and Ignacio Perez Perez.
Layout by Airida Rekstyte.
Hard cover, color prints, 96 pages.
If you are interested please contact me.
