The Last MatchErkki Pirtola's Memorial Happening
Mad House, Suvilahti, Helsinki March 2017 In 2016 my good friend and inspirator Erkki Pirtola passed away quite suddenly. He was a well known figure in the Finnish artworld, as artist, art critic and videographer. But most of all he was known for his relentless encouragement for anybody serious and honest about their art. It was easy to gather some 25 artists to pay their tribute with a 5 minute art action each. As the initiator of this event I was the last to make my contribution. Standing on a chair I lit a king size match and let it burn down almost to my fingers. |
